The Other 10 Commandments
-- Author Unknown
Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most
unproductive of all human activities.
Thou shall not be fearful, for most of the things
we fear never come to pass.
Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to
them, for no one yet has succeeded in
accomplishing this.
Thou shall face each problem as it comes. You can
only handle one at a time anyway.
Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for
they make very poor bedfellows.
Thou shall not borrow other people's problems.
They can better care for them than you can.
Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or
ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is
happening in your life and be happy now!
Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you
listen do you hear different ideas from
your own. It is hard to learn something new
when you are talking, and some people do know
more than you do.
Thou shall not become "bogged down" by
frustration, for ninety percent of it is rooted in
self-pity and will only interfere with positive
action.
Thou shall count thy blessings, never overlooking
the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add
up to a big one.

The
only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a
small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly
for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned
the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little
hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the
elements, and to store his few possessions.
Then one day, after scavenging for food, he
arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the
smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had
happened - everything was lost. He was stunned
with grief and anger "God, how could you do this
to me?" he cried.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by
the sound of a ship that was
approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.
"How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man
of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they
replied.
It's easy to get discouraged sometimes when things
appear to be going badly. But we shouldn't lose
heart, because God is at work in our lives, even
in the
midst of pain and suffering.
Remember, next time your little hut is burning to
the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that
summons the grace of God.
For
all the negative things we have to say to
ourselves, God has a positive answer for it.
You say, "It's impossible."
God says: "All thing are possible". (Luke 18:27)
You say, "I'm too tired."
God says: "I will give you rest". (Matt
11:28-20)
You say, "Nobody really loves me."
God says: "I love you". (John 3:16 - John 13:34)
You say, "I can't go on."
God says: "My grace is sufficient." (II Cor.
12:9 - Psalms 91:15)
You say, "I can't figure things out."
God says: "I will direct your steps." (Proverbs
3:5-6)
You say, "I can't do it."
God says: "You can do all things in Me." (Phil
4:13)
You say, "It's not worth it."
God says: "It will be worth it." (Romans 8:28)
You say, "I can't forgive myself."
God says: "I forgive you" (I John 1:9 - Romans
8:1)
You say, "I can't manage."
God says: "I will supply all your needs." (Phil
4:19)
You say, "I'm afraid."
God says: "I have not given you a spirit of
fear." (II Tim. 1:7)
You say, "I'm always worried and frustrated."
God says: "Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter
5:7)
You say, "I don't have enough faith."
God says: "I've given everyone a measure of
faith." (Romans 12:3)
You say, "I'm not smart enough."
God says: "I give you wisdom." (I Cor. 1:30)
You say, "I feel all alone."
God says: "I will never leave you or forsake
you." (Heb. 13:5)

A young man was getting
ready to graduate college. For many months he
had admired a beautiful sports car in a
dealer's showroom, and knowing his father
could well afford it, he told him that was all
he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man
awaited signs that his father had purchased
the car. Finally, on the morning of his
graduation his father called him into his
private study. His father told him how proud
he was to have such a fine son, and told him
how much he loved him. He handed his
son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young
man opened the box and found a lovely,
leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his
voice at his father and said, "With all your
money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of
the house, leaving the holy book.
Many years passed and the young man was very
successful in business. He had a beautiful
home and wonderful family, but realized his
father was very old, and thought perhaps he
should go to him. He had not seen him
since that graduation day.
Before he could make
arrangements, he received a telegram telling
him his father had passed away, and willed all
of his possessions to his son. He
needed to come home immediately and take
care things. When he arrived at his father's
house, sudden sadness and regret filled his
heart.
He began to search his father's important
papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he
had left it years ago. With tears, he opened
the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he
read those words, a car key dropped from
an envelope taped behind the Bible.
It had a tag with the
dealer's name, the same dealer who had the
sports car he had desired. On the tag was the
date of his graduation, and the words...PAID

How
many times do we miss God's blessings
because they are not packaged as we
expected?
